Knock Bureau remains the preferred choice for marriage hopefuls

The success of the Knock Marriage Introductions Bureau continues, with five marriages last year and three engagements in 2016 coming as a direct result of introductions made through the service. According to latest figures released by the body there are currently 265 men and women on file, with farmers and female teachers among the leading categories among marriage hopefuls.

Speaking about the ongoing work of the Bureau, secretary Leona Connery, who works alongside Canon Joe Cooney insists that Knock rivals any of the modern dating facilities offered by the internet and speed dating events.

“We have people using our service who have tried both and still come back to us because it is a success,” she said.

Services

Those wishing to avail of the Knock Marriage Introduction service, who must be free to marry in the Catholic Church, are asked to fill out two questionnaires and while the Bureau states that “no definite promise can be made that all those who apply to us will find a life partner…all who register can be sure that every effort will be made to help them”.

To date, more than 1,000 marriages have taken place as a result of the work of Knock Marriage Introductions since its establishment in 1968.
