Dominicans welcome two new priests

Archbishop Diarmuid Martin said he rejoiced with the Dominican community in Ireland as he ordained two of their members to the priesthood at the weekend.

Fr Luuk Jansen and Fr Colm Mannion were ordained in front of a packed congregation at St Saviour’s Church, in Dublin’s Dominick Street on Saturday.

Fr Jansen, originally from the Netherlands, converted to the Faith while working in the west of Ireland, and entered the Irish Dominican novitiate in Limerick a number of years after being baptised.

Fr Mannion, from Birr, Co. Offaly, worked with an international airline and for the Legion of Mary, before entering the novitiate with Fr Jansen and Br Matthew Martinez, who will be ordained next month in his native Trinidad.
