The annual March for Life event took place in Dublin on Monday, May 4, attracting thousands to the city centre on the bank holiday. The focus of this year’s event was on Ireland’s rapidly rising abortion numbers and the need for promotion of positive alternatives to abortion. The march started at St Stephen’s Green and concluded in Molesworth St where a number of talks were heard.
Among the speakers were Aontú Cllr Ellen Troy, who is a well-known community activist in Dublin 15, Caroline Simons, the leading spokesperson for Pro Life Campaign, and Ken O’Flynn TD for Cork North Central, who raised the reality of babies born alive after abortion procedures.
Ms Simons called out the alarming rise in coercive forced abortion cases and the Government’s failure to even acknowledge it, while Cllr Troy shone a light on the 10,000 women who changed their minds during the three-day waiting period.
