The Diocese of Down and Connor honoured the hard work of two priests last week, with Mass celebrated by Bishop Alan McGuckian and a celebratory lunch in honour of their jubilees.
Diocesan secretary and Parish Priest of Ballyclare and Ballgowan Parishes Fr Gerard Fox celebrated his Silver Jubilee, and Chancellor of the Diocese Fr Eugene O’Hagan celebrated his Ruby Jubilee.
In a statement to the two priests by Down and Connor’s ‘Pathways to the Future’ programme, the diocese thanked Fr Fox and Fr O’Hagan for “their generous ‘yes’ to God’s call”, which has “been a blessing to countless lives.”
“Through your celebration of the Eucharist, your preaching of the Gospel, your compassionate pastoral care, and your unwavering witness to Christ, you have brought hope, comfort and the love of God to so many,” continued the statement.
The statement praised the dedication, service, and humility of Fr Fox and Fr O’Hagan, who serve the diocese as secretary and chancellor, respectively, as well as fulfilling ministry roles.
