Rose of Tralee ‘shaped by Catholic education’

The newly crowned Rose of Tralee has spoken of the importance of Catholic education in shaping her life.

Still getting used to her place in the limelight after her success at the annual gathering, Chicago native Maggie McEldowney revealed in one of her earliest interviews: “My faith is a very important part of my life.”

She explained: “I grew up in a very loving Catholic faithful home. We go to Mass together regularly.”

Now serving as a director of development for the Marist High School in Chicago, Maggie said her own Catholic education had been a vital element in her life.

“I think Catholic education really moulded me into who I am today,” she said.
