Pope to drive Skoda during
 WMOF

Pope Francis will use a Skoda, the modest family saloon, when he is not using the ‘popemobile’, during his visit to Ireland for WMOF.

Broadcaster Norah Casey revealed the Pontiff’s means of transport on Sunday in an interview on RTE Radio 1’s Marian Finucane Show with Brendan O’Connor.

Allianz Insurance is the headline sponsor for the World Meeting of Families, but other companies and corporations in Ireland and the US have made donations towards costs.

“A lot of corporates have given to us privately – that is not a surprise, it happens a lot,” she explained. “He is driving a Skoda, for instance, while he is in Ireland. Skoda have provided the car.”

WMOF Pope Emoji hits Twitter

A dedicated Twitter emoji which has been created to commemorate Pope Francis’ visit to Ireland was launched this week.

The emoji is part of a special welcome to the Pontiff on his historic visit over 25 to 26 August and is the fruit of a collaboration between the social media giant and the World Meeting of Families 2018.

The emoji can be accessed by using the hashtags #popeinireland, #pápainÉirinn, #WMOF2018 and #festivaloffamilies on Twitter.

It features an image of Pope Francis in front of the Irish flag. Another emoji will feature the Pope in front of Knock Shrine.
