Musicians tune up for ‘Trad for Trócaire’

People across the country are invited to celebrate Ireland’s musical culture by supporting a local ‘Trad for Trócaire’ session in their neighbourhood.

The bishops’ overseas development agency is encouraging music lovers to get out and enjoy the best local traditional musical talent next week, while helping communities to overcome poverty in the developing world.

Trad for Trócaire, which takes place from September 26 to October 3, is a fundraising and music week run by Trócaire and Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann.

People across the country are invited to celebrate Ireland’s musical culture by supporting a local ‘Trad for Trócaire’ session in their neighbourhood.

Hundreds of sessions will take place as far away as Florida, with traditional musicians tuning up in a bid to tackle global poverty.

Since it began in 2010, over 1,300 Trad for Trócaire sessions have taken place across Ireland, Britain and in the US.
