Local churches need courage, says Moran

Local churches need courage, says Moran St Peter’s Church - known locally as ‘The Rock’.

Julieann Moran, General Secretary of the Synodal Path of the Catholic Church in Ireland, was a guest speaker at the Katholikentag in Wurzburg, Germany, over the weekend. She told participants that there is still great fear among some that things will change, and among others that they won’t.

“But Jesus called on people not to be afraid”, Ms Moran said. There is still a long way to go, requiring patience and a willingness to reach out to one another, she continued. “A first major step for the Church would be to bring more women into administrative positions. Not only the Vatican, but also local churches must have the courage to do so.”
