Knock scoops major tourism award

Marian shrine recognised as top performing tourist attraction

Knock Shrine has been recognised by a leading tourism website for its excellence in hospitality.

The world renowned Marian shrine in Co. Mayo received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence award for the top performing tourist attraction as reviewed by tourists on the world’s largest travel site.

Now in its fifth year, the award celebrates excellence in hospitality and is given only to establishments that consistently achieve impressive reviews on TripAdvisor’s website. Certificate of Excellence winners include accommodations, eateries and attractions located all over the world that have continually delivered a superior customer experience.

Knock Shrine Rector, Fr Richard Gibbons said he was “thrilled to receive this certificate and to be given such wonderful recognition”.

“I would like to thank our staff who do such a wonderful job in welcoming people to Knock, in the great work they do every day and in going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that all who visit here have a pleasant and enjoyable experience.

“We would also like to thank all of the pilgrims that have taken the time to post reviews and have written such warm and positive words about the Shrine and the staff here. We hope this trend will continue and people will show their support through this valuable medium and encourage others to visit,” he added.
