Has Archbishop Neary just surrendered?

Dear Editor, I wish to refer to the article entitled, “Church has ‘lost the battle’ with secularism” (IC 13/11/2014).

Archbishop Michael Neary’s remarks about the Church losing the battle with secularism are wrong. The Church is the body of Christ and the war was won on the cross 2,000 years ago. If he means the hierarchy, he is again wrong as there was no battle. Secularism as he calls it was given a clear run. Even the killing of infants was made legal, with hardly a murmur from them.

His description of what has happened as the “death rattle” of Christendom is dishonest. They have made no effort to rectify what has been wrong for well over a generation. The question each and every person should ask within the Church is “What does God want me to do?” Even the archbishop should ask this question.

We have within the Church the truth and teachings of Christ, which is the greatest weapon, but they have been kept hidden.

Has Archbishop Neary just surrendered? If so resign and leave your job as it appears that the salvation of souls is of no regard. The job of a priest, bishop or archbishop is to save souls. Nothing else matters.

Yours etc.,
