Enniscorthy Triduum of Mercy attracts crowds

The Triduum celebration for the Year of Mercy in Enniscorthy Cathedral in Co. Wexford drew large numbers of people daily from all corners of the Diocese of Ferns. Organised by the Diocesan Pastoral Council, the celebration filled the cathedral every day for morning Mass and queues formed to receive the Sacrament of Confession, which was available all day.

The Sacrament of the Sick also took place each day at 3pm and families brought elderly loved ones to the cathedral for the Healing Mass.

Speakers in attendance over the three days include: Bro. Kevin Crowley from the Capuchin Day Centre for the homeless in Dublin; Sr Ann O’Sullivan, whose work includes liaising with prisoners and their families; Mick Kavanagh from the Hope Centre, which support to people affected by cancer, Wexford priest Fr Chris Hayden and Dominican friar Fr John Harris OP.

Fr Billy Swan from the Cathedral Parish spoke about the link between joy and mercy, while Fr Brian Broaders PP gave an overall view of the three days and what mercy means in our lives. Bishop Denis Brennan was also in attendance during the Triduum and was available for Confessions on the evening of reconciliation.
