Parishioners receive a blessing with the first class relic of St
Carlo Acutis at St Anne’s Church in Sligo on September 7. Catholics who have drifted from the Church will be invited to “come home” during Dublin’s third annual Eucharistic and Marian Procession this month.
The procession will leave St Nicholas of Myra Church, Francis Street, at 2.30pm on Sunday, August 16, before concluding with Mass at St Andrew’s Church, Westland Row, at 5pm.
Organiser Karen Brady said the event aims to show that the Catholic faith remains “alive and well” in the capital. “The home is a bit messy right now, but it’s your home,” she told The Irish Catholic. “We basically want to say: Catholics, come home.”
Mrs Brady said the procession was more than a public display, reflecting Catholic belief in Christ’s Real Presence. “The Blessed Sacrament is Jesus himself. It’s Jesus himself walking through the streets of Dublin,” she said. “We don’t know what he is doing, but we know that big things are happening. He heals, shows love and mercy.”
The Croí Íosa team, including Fr Brendan Kealy and Fr Fergal Cummins, is organising the event, with young people, the Children’s Rosary, Men’s Rosary and Legion of Mary also taking part.
