Collaborating with the Society of St Vincent de Paul (SVP) to celebrate the theme of International Women’s Day, “Give to Gain”, students of St Killian’s College participated in a workshop where they learned about the SVP and helped create a window display for the Vincent’s shop in Cushendall, Co. Antrim.

Manager of the Cushendall shop Seana Lynn was invited to host the workshop at St Killian’s. “The students learnt about the ethos and work of St Vincent de Paul and the charity’s impact in the local area.” In 2025, SVP spent approximately £5.5 million helping those experiencing poverty in Northern Ireland.

Using the “Give to Gain” theme as inspiration, Ms Lynn helped the students upcycle tshirts, allowing them to create their own design on each shirt. The shop manager then used the shirts for a window display in the Vincent’s shop.

“After the event, some of the students called into the shop one Saturday and said they could ‘shop here all day’ before purchasing some spring fashions”, said Ms Lynch. St Killian’s is set to invite the Vincent’s manager back for another workshop before the summer break.
