Christians from different traditions will gather at Dublin’s Garden of Remembrance at 2pm on Saturday, September 26, for the annual March for Jesus.
Bishop Alphonsus Cullinan has promoted the event, which aims to unite Catholics, Protestants and other Christians in public witness at a time when organisers believe the wider culture is increasingly hostile to Christian faith.
Organiser Pastor John Ahern described the march as a “non-political, family-friendly celebration of Christ and the Christian faith”.
“At a time when we’re seeing so much division and polarisation, I think all of us as believers need to humble ourselves before the Lord,” he told The Irish Catholic.
Pastor Ahern said the event focuses on what Christians share rather than differences between their traditions. “It’s not a march for a man or for any institution,” he said. “It’s just a day to lift up Jesus Christ.”
