Armagh choir promoting diversity

Voices Together promotes inclusion and diversity

A community choir drawing singers from Armagh’s two cathedrals is growing in strength in their goal to promote inclusion and diversity.

Voices Together, formed in 2011 and led by Dave Stewart, has nearly 60 members of different ages and backgrounds in the North. It is a project-based choir, meeting to prepare for specific events which over the last two years have included concerts for world development charities, liturgical events, a concert tour of Limerick and a peace-building event with Tommy Sands and Willie Drennan.

“We hold no auditions, and have a whole range of people representing all the different communities in Northern Ireland,” said Dave Stewart.

“The fact that we exist and people come to see us is an embodiment of that diversity and that music can cut across cultures.”

Voices Together will perform in St Patrick’s Church of Ireland Cathedral on Saturday, March 1 at 8pm. Admission is free.
