Today marks the 10th anniversary of the death of Sr Clare Crockett, Servant of God, who died in an earthquake while in mission in Ecuador on April 16, 2016. To mark the milestone, HM Television started a 10-day countdown on their YouTube channel, releasing one video about the Irish nun per day. The clips feature children and young people who met Sr Clare in life, and are titled ‘10 Years, 10 Moments: Sr. Clare, Unpublished Memories.’

In St Columba’s Church, Long Tower – Sr Clare’s home parish – the annual ‘Sr Clare Retreat’ has been taking place since Monday, April 13 and will conclude on Sunday, April 19. With daily Mass and a different speaker each evening, the event will end with Mass by Bishop Donal McKeown of Derry.

The anniversary retreat was supposed to open with a talk by Sr Kristen Gardiner, Postulator of Sr Clare’s cause for canonisation, on Monday evening, but “due to the computer system shutting down at passport control”, she could not attend; Fr Gerard Mongan, Admin. Long Tower, said. “Sr Rachel of the Servant Sisters came to the rescue and delivered the words that Sr Kristen intended to share.”
