‘There is evidence that prayer can help’ – Evelyn Cusack

Top weather forecaster believes in the power of prayer

Top weather forecaster Evelyn Cusack has spoken out about her belief in the power of prayer.

While the RTÉ weather woman admitted that she wasn’t very religious, she insisted that prayer was a great source of comfort to people.

The Met Eireann presenter, who in April was voted Ireland favourite weather forecaster with a 21% majority of the vote, said there was “very good scientific evidence that prayer does help”.

“If you’re sick… your neighbour comes in and says I’m praying for you and I’ve said Mass for you, you do feel better.

“It’s nice to feel someone’s looking out for you,” she told Woman’s Way.

During the course of the interview, the 50-year-old also spoke candidly about her only child – 15-year-old Fleur, who recently completed her Junior Certificate and has a love for music and maths.

“She’s independent, she’s an only child so I spoil her rotten. Maybe I worry that she is an only, lonely mouse, but she has cousins and she has school friends,” Ms Cusack said, adding that the role of a parent was about keeping her child “alive, happy and healthy”.
