St Michael's Church, Enniskillen. Photo: Wikimedia Commons. St Michael’s Church, Enniskillen, Co. Fermanagh, in the Diocese of Clogher closed out its 150th year anniversary with a live broadcasted Mass presented by RTÉ.
The Mass was celebrated by Msgr Peter O’Reilly and featured music from the parish choir. He explained that although the anniversary technically ended in March, this Mass closed out the final celebrations.
“I took the view that the anniversary was about looking forward every bit as much as looking back,” he explained.
The parish priest reported receiving many positive messages when asked about the community’s response to the broadcast.
“It worked very well and we were able to keep within the time limit offered. Everyone did their part,” he spoke.
Msgr O’Reilly expressed that the broadcast created an opportunity for those who are unable to attend Mass every week.
“It was lovely to be able to offer our ministry and bring our parish to those who cannot get out from home – to be able to give people a different experience or to give people a bit of a spiritual lift,” he explained.
