Since 2007 the Sixmilebridge/Kilmurry Parish Area have been hosting gatherings in each corner of the parish for friends and neighbours to meet and celebrate the Eucharist. Each house in the parish got a special invitation to become part of the initiative and the gatherings are held during the summer months beginning on May Eve each year.
To celebrate the Year of Faith on August 22 the whole parish was brought together in the local GAA field for a Gathering Mass. The ceremony began when a member of the Scouts leading a procession of banners onto the field to the altar while the choirs sang Though We Are Many. Fr Harry Bohan celebrated Mass and after Communion there was a procession of the Blessed Sacrament. The evening ended with tea and chat in the local GAA Club House.
