Senator Rónán Mullen has paid a stirring tribute to the legendary Dolores Keane, highlighting a powerful pro-life story. In a past Sunday Independent interview, Keane recounted a confrontational moment with a London doctor who, doubting her baby’s survival, bluntly advised her to abort.

Her response was as legendary as her voice: “I just kicked the chair back and told him, ‘You f**ker! This child is going to be born and he is going to live!’ And I stormed out.”

Keane’s son did survive, but she remained deeply concerned for others who might find themselves in similar situations. She feared that many would feel pressured to defer to the “voice of male authority”—those doctors who deliver life-altering advice in detached, professional tones.

Senator Mullen said he hopes Ms Keane’s fire serves as an inspiration for Irish parents to trust their own instincts and challenge medical experts who offer such clinical, “not-so-caring” counsel.
