Dear Editor, As the Seanad election ballots arrive in our post box, as a registered voter I have taken the time to read through the lot.
My husband and I graduated from different universities so we have the full range of issues on which each candidate is campaigning.
Equality is high on the list of all. The Pro-Life Campaign has collated information on the various candidates, on each of the panels, as to what their position is on repeal of the Eighth Amendment – the life equality amendment. Sadly their concept of equality does not include the unborn child.
When universities are supposed to be market places of ideas, the groupthink mentality throughout is astounding. Repealing the life equality amendment is their priority – how ironic.
I would dearly love if even just a few people would venture out of the bunker and act courageously.
Yet again, I have no one to vote for.
My husband is more fortunate, he has one candidate for whom he can vote.
Hope springs eternal.
Yours etc.,
Elizabeth Twomey,
