Redemptorist teen magazine forced to close

Face Up, a Redemptorist-run magazine aimed at teenagers, has published its last print edition after 14 years.

The ‘number one student magazine’ had been subsidised from the start. However, increased production costs, declining subscriptions and swingeing budget cuts forced Redemptorist Communications to wind down the magazine’s operations this month. Publishers are now focusing on developing Face Up’s social media presence on sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

A new website with content from past magazines and some new articles is also expected to be up and running by the new school term in September.

“People are extremely sad to see it go,” Redemptorist Communications Business Manager, Paul Copeland, told The Irish Catholic.

“It’s unfortunate that this has had to happen. But it’s just not viable in its paper format anymore,” he said.
