Priests saved from Hiroshima blast lived Fatima message

Dear Editor, In the article on Hiroshima in the August 13 edition of The Irish Catholic (World of Books), I was disappointed that the miracle which saved the group of priests who were in Hiroshima when the bomb was dropped was not mentioned. The presbytery was demolished, but the priests were not affected and suffered no ill effects later in their lives.

The priests were living the message of Fatima – they went to Confession, received Holy Communion, said the rosary and kept Our Lady company for 15 minutes while meditating on the mysteries, on the first Saturday of five consecutive months.

This devotion was requested by Our Lady on December 10, 1925. She said if her request was heeded then Russia would be converted. If her request was not heeded then Russia would spread her errors throughout the world.

It was a simple request but, sadly, it was mostly ignored. Is it too late now to do as she asked?

Yours etc.,

Anna Brady,
