Pope’s exhortation an Irish bestseller

Pope Francis’ most recent document on love in the family has become a non-fiction Irish bestseller.

Amoris Laetitia (The Joy of Love) is the 2016 exhortation which brings together the results of the two synods on the family convoked by the Pope in 2014 and 2015.

Catholic publisher Veritas confirmed to The Irish Catholic that they have sold 5,624 copies of the text to date.

Veritas’ Marketing and Publicity Coordinator Pamela McLoughlin told this newspaper that “customers are very interested in the document”.

“The fact that it is now featured on the bestseller list speaks volumes for the hunger that people have for what the Pope is saying. He’s bringing his message to the people every day and people are really interested,” she said.

In a statement the Irish Bishops said Amoris Laetitia “will be the core resource for the catechetical preparation” of the World Meeting of Families in Dublin in 2018.
