Pope’s encyclical tops internet charts

Lumen Fidei is topping best sellers lists online

Pope Francis is topping the charts not just in bookstores but on the internet too.

His first encyclical, Lumen Fidei (The Light of Faith), has surprised the market since its launch at during the summer.

On the Amazon website it features in the top 100 downloads in Spanish and French. In Italian bookstores, the book topped the charts right after it was published.

The encyclical is 100 pages long and is an ideal follow-up to those written by Pope Benedict XVI on charity and hope. Pope Francis himself stated that the text was started by his predecessor, and that all he had to do was revise it and make a few personal contributions. The result is a surely historic document, perhaps the only encyclical ever to be written by two Popes.
