Pope John Paul II Award in Cork

The second annual Pope John Paul II Award, in Mallow Community Youth Centre, saw 62 young people from the Diocese of Cloyne, and one school in the Diocese of Cork & Ross, receive the award. The students were from St Mary’s Secondary School, Mallow; Patrician Academy, Mallow; Nagle Rice Secondary School, Doneraile; St Aloysius College, Carrigtwohill; Coláiste Mhuire, Buttevant; Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown; and Sacred Heart School, Clonakilty.

Bishop William Crean and Barry MacMahon, Supreme Knight of the Knights of St Columbanus, presented the young people with their certificates and medals. Niamh Palmer from the Presentation Secondary School in Mitchelstown received the highest award: the Papal Cross.
