RTÉ broadcaster Miriam O’Callaghan was on hand to encourage children everywhere to have a ‘Mad Hair Day’ this December 16 for a good cause. A fundraising initiative of the Society of Missionary Children, the event calls for children to adopt zany hairstyles as they collect money for poverty stricken children across the world. This year all proceeds will go to help the work of Presentation Missionary Sister Evelyn Flanagan, who is a tireless champion of the Badjao Tribe in the Philippines.
“This year we are urging as many schoolchildren as possible to get behind us, get involved with Mad Hair Day, have fun and donate what they can afford ; all donations will make a huge difference to the lives of the Badjao children,” said National Secretary of Missionary Children, Julieann Moran.
