Figures released by the Papal Household on January 2 reveal that more than 6.6 million people attended events led by Pope Francis since his March elevation.
The figures were compiled both from ticketed events such as Masses and private audiences and from estimates during non-ticket events such as the weekly general audience and other celebrations in St Peterís Square. The figures did not include events attended by Pope Francis in other parts of Rome and beyond.
