St Patrick’s Church, Milltown in the parish of Drumlane, Co. Cavan underwent a large restoration project this year. The building, constructed nearly 150 years ago by William Hague, has received a complete facelift in just five weeks; including painting, new lighting, flooring, new central heating and moving the altar of St Patrick.
One of the outstanding changes to the church is the addition of a picture of the Divine Mercy by local man Charlie Robinson, which was secured from the now closed Killnacrott Abbey by parish priest Fr Gerry Comiskey. There is up to 1,800 pieces of wood in this masterpiece and one of these is from Ashgrove a townland in the parish.
The congregation returned to the church on the Feast of the Ascension of our Lord for a Mass of Thanksgiving.
