Marist Sister celebrates centenary

Sr Thomasina Gilfillan joined the ranks of Irish centenarians when she celebrated her 100th birthday on February 4 in the Marist Convent, Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Leitrim.

Sr Thomasina, formerly Anne Elizabeth Gilfillan, came from a family of nine. Four girls entered religious life – two to the Mercy Order and two to the Marists – and three of her brothers became priests. Two of her sisters, Sr Margaret Mary RSM and Sr De Chantal RSM are still alive.
