Limerick thanks departing Daughters of Charity after 64 years’ service

Thanksgiving Masses have been offered in Limerick for the Daughters of Charity, who have announced plans to leave Limerick after 64 years of caring for people with disabilities and their families. Present in the city since 1952, the community is now down to four members, Srs Kathleen Moore, Breege Fahey,  Colette McLoughlin and  Francis Brouder. The nuns leave behind the Daughters of Charity Disability Support Services, which continues to help people in Limerick today. Denis Cronin, CEO of the Service said: “Service users, families and staff are indebted to the many individuals who had a vocation to join the Daughters over the years, and who dedicated their lives to supporting and advocating for the rights of the less fortunate. I believe that the Daughters are handing over the reins to your lay colleagues safe in the knowledge that the core values and beliefs, love and service to the poor will long live on in this region, and for this we must thank you.”
