L’Arche thanks Sligo for years of support

The L’Arche community, working with people with intellectual disabilities, has thanked the people of Sligo for its many years of support for its work in the town.

As the group recently donated a cheque to the value of €149,522 to create an annual bursary to send Sligo students on retreat with Jean Vanier and to contribute to the L’Arche overseas fund for developing countries, the groups stated:  “Over many decades the people of Sligo have been an example for the whole country in their appreciation and support for people with intellectual disability and the visits of Jean Vanier have been an inspiration and impetus to have his L’Arche and Faith and Light communities established here.”
