Kilmore youth begin Polish pilgim fortnight

Almost 40 young pilgrims from the diocese of Kilmore flew to Poland on Monday, July 18, to continue their preparations for World Youth Day in Krakow.

The group make up the majority of the 40 youths from across the diocese who will participate in the major Catholic gathering.  Kilmore’s Bishop Leo O’Reilly celebrated a Mass of Sending for the pilgrims in the Chapel of the Kilmore Diocesan Pastoral Centre, assisted by Frs Rafal Siwek and Seán Maguire, who are travelling to Poland with the group.

At the social event after the Mass, organised by Carina McGinnell, Diocesan Director for Youth and Young Adult Ministry, Dr O’Reilly was presented with one of the hoodies and t-shirts which were specially designed for the Kilmore participants.

The pilgrims who have now in Poland are participating in the Diocese of Lodz’s Paradise in the City festival before heading to Krakow for the week-long festival which will culminate in a Mass celebrated by Pope Francis.
