Mags GarganParishioners from the parish of Tullaherin/Bennettsbridge in Co. Kilkenny turned out in large numbers to celebrate the golden jubilee of Canon Patrick Duggan. The day began with a Mass of Thanksgiving where Canon Duggan spoke at length about his time in the priesthood.
He said the highlight for him would have to be the daily celebration of the Eucharist and he had a special place in his heart for the sick and housebound.
After Mass refreshments were served in the Community Centre where Mary Cassin presented Fr Duggan with a specially commissioned Nicky Mosse platter featuring a painting of the bridge. A special jubilee cake was also provided by Bennettsbridge Ladies Club.
