Kenmare parish is celebrating the 150th anniversary of Holy Cross church with a programme of events running to November.
The celebrations began last Friday with the launch of the book Holy Cross Church Kenmare 150 (1864 – 2014), A Social and Local History by Canon Tom Looney. The festivities continue this month with a parish mission, pilgrimage walks and a 150th anniversary Mass on September 14. Next month there will be a guided tour of the art and architecture of the church, a Mass for local schoolchildren and a pageant dramatising the story of the church. November will see a parish social and an ecumenical carol service.
