Justin Bieber thanks God for award win

Music superstar Justin Bieber said he has God to thank for his ‘Male Artist of the Year’ award at the weekend.

Picking up the gong, along with the Best Fan Army prize, at the iHeartRadio Awards in California, the Canadian singer songwriter said: “[Thanks to] God… I’ve experienced some tough times. I think all of us have. It’s about just our growth and learning.’’ He then finished up by praising his family for their support.

The 21-year-old hitmaker went on a spiritual break last year where he returned to his Christian faith after an “uncomfortable phase” and found solace through a personal relationship with God.

The singer chose Purpose for the title of his latest album because “I felt like I lost my purpose… and I feel like I finally got my purpose back”.

After living with a pastor for a few weeks in New York the star said that he was able to “understand my worth and knew that people weren’t giving me what I need”.
