Dear Editor, I am going on 95 years and looking at the sad stories that are being discussed in our world today, I want to remind Catholics of our wonderful past over 2,000 years and the dictators that tried to undermine our Church.
In my time Stalin got into power and immediately got rid of all forms of Christianity. In no time there were thousands of unmarried mothers in the country and the boys born at that time were his armies in World War II. To solve the problem he called himself Uncle Joe. This continued long after Stalin died but eventually Russia came back to Christianity when the new Russian president visited Pope John Paul.
Remember the message from the altar: “Heaven and Earth will pass away but my word will not pass away.” Let’s remember the miracle of Fatima and the thousands of people who saw it in 1917, especially those who died in God.
Our history is out on its own and nobody can undermine God’s work. Continue to pray and be proud of our Catholic Church.
Yours etc.,
Jack Scannell,
