Irish public raises €25m for Trócaire

The Bishops’ Conference has praised the work of parishes in raising €25million for Trócaire, their overseas development agency.

From April 2015 to April 2016, the Irish public donated €25 million to the charity, which is a 7% increase over the previous 12 month period.

Eamonn Meehan, Executive Director of Trócaire, told The Irish Catholic that “it goes without saying that the work we do would not be possible without the support of the Irish public”.

“Last year, Trócaire brought support and relief to 2.4 million people in some of the poorest areas of the world. That is over two million people whose lives have been changed due to the generosity of people in Ireland. We are incredibly grateful to our supporters for their determination to support vulnerable people in the developing world.”
