Ireland’s Archbishops Eamon Martin of Armagh and Diarmuid Martin of Dublin have expressed sympathy for the victims of the terrorist attack in Nice.
Calling for prayers for all those affected by the attack, Archbishop Eamon Martin said “the horrific scenes on the streets of Nice once more send shock waves into our homes and hearts…Please keep the people of France in your prayers and especially the dead and injured, the families and loved ones of all those caught up in this senseless and brutal act.”
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin, meanwhile, stressed that “there is only one way to fight attacks on democracy and that is to reinforce democracy and uncompromisingly affirm our commitment to democracy… I join with people of all faiths and walks of life in condemning such attacks and expressing prayers for those who died and for those who mourn and for the people of France.”
