Despite adverse weather conditions, over 800 people attended the inaugural healing Mass in honour of St Peregrine, patron saint of cancer, in St Patrick’s Church, Skerries, Co. Dublin.
Mass was concelebrated by Fr Richard Hyland PP, Fr Tim Flynn OSM (Servite Order) and Fr David Halpin. In attendance was Bro. Patrick Gettins OSM (UK). The music for the evening was supplied by the River of Life music ministry.
After Mass the Sacrament of the Sick was administered and an individual blessing of the Relic of St Peregrine was given.
Fr Flynn delivered the homily on St Peregrine and then officially launched the Friends of St Peregrine Ireland and their new novena.
The aim of the group is to promote devotion to St Peregrine and to give spiritual support and encouragement to cancer sufferers by helping to run healing services in other parishes/churches.
