 service

Members of the Youghal Catholic Young Mens’ Society gathered in the town on July 20 to honour Mary Carson who was retiring as supervisor of the local Community Employment Scheme. A special evening was held for Mary and her family where huge praise was bestowed on Mary from the Honorary Vice President, Brendan Cooney for her work and support of the society over the past 20 years.

A presentation was made to Mary of a bouquet of flowers, a crystal time piece and a special plaque acknowledging her outstanding contribution to the society. During her time, Mary oversaw teams of operatives who helped maintain various community organisations in town, the Youghal CYMS being just one of those.

Summer
 camp exceeds
 expectations

Organisers of this year’s Mallow Youth Ministry St Aloysius Summer Faith Camp for Boys and Girls say it exceeded all expectations. The action-packed week was described as a summer camp with a twist! Each day the young people started off with morning prayer followed by a variety of activities such as drama, sports, music, arts & crafts and Good Shepherd Catechesis.

Organisers were grateful to have Sr Maria Goretti who gave freely of her time to give the young people the opportunity to have Adoration every day where they had quiet time to sit and talk to Jesus. The day finished with Mass where the young people participated in the singing, the readings and altar serving.

Some 48 children participated in the camp and organisers were delighted to have 33 leaders and junior leaders from Mallow Parish Youth Ministry-CDYS, Jesus Youth Movement and the Pope John Paul II Award participants.
