United States – A prelate in the state of Illinois performed a minor rite of Exorcism on November 20 as Governor Pat Quinn signed a same-sex marriage Bill into law.
Bishop Thomas Paprocki of Springfield staged the event to bring attention to what he referred to as the “Devil’s influence” in society.
“I’m not saying that anyone involved in the redefinition of marriage is possessed by the Devil,” Bishop Paprocki insisted, “but all of us are certainly subject to the Devil’s evil influences and in need of protection and deliverance from evil.” He added that legislators who had backed the new law had been “morally complicit” in a grave evil.
