Hundreds visit St Padre Pio relics in Limerick

Over 1,000 people turned out to view some of the relics of St Padre Pio in the Augustinian church in Limerick city last week.

Many people began queuing to view the relics, which included a mitten, a heart bandage and some replicas, from 8am and the church was packed out for 10am Mass.

Organiser Fergal Golden from Rhebogue said he wanted to bring a piece of San Giovanni to Limerick to help heal others, after Padre Pio helped him in 2001 when he was very ill. He said he was brought back to his faith when he was blessed with Padre Pio’s glove, and felt a “great warmth” run through him.
