How you vote will affect future generations

Dear Editor, Shortly Irish voters will be asked by our Government to legalise same-sex marriage, with men marrying men, women marrying women and with children being adopted/surrogated into same-sex unions, as a new Irish norm.

Should this same-sex referendum pass, will schools and teachers be forced to teach children that same-sex marriage is not just legal, but also normal? Will such teachers be prosecuted, disciplined or dismissed if they do not teach this? Will hotels, venues, pubs, wedding florists/photographers, printers be prosecuted and legally bullied if they do not support same-sex marriage in their business dealings?

No other national electorate anywhere worldwide has ever radically changed the traditional man/woman marriage institution so fundamentally, as our Government now asks Irish voters to do. The political and media establishment are pushing for this referendum to pass. Question your TDs and senators, now vying for your general election votes, on their position. Your vote will decide the nature of Irish marriage and our children’s place in marriage for generations to come.

Yours etc.,

Oliver Maher,

Haroldscross,
