The Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Whitefriar Street, held a Holy Week Vigil Retreat on March 28 for young adults in the Dublin City area to prepare for the Easter season. The gathering was led by the Carmelite Friars and was aimed at young adults, providing space for spiritual preparation during Holy Week and Easter.
The retreat commenced with the Stations of the Cross while walking around the major churches of Dublin City, which lasted approximately two hours.
Following the Stations of the Cross, Vigil Mass for Palm Sunday was celebrated in Whitefriar Street Church before food and refreshments. The Carmelite Friars provided evening prayer, confessions and a group rosary, before guided and silent Adoration and meditation in their Oratory. The event attracted around 30 young adults studying and living in the area. A student attending the retreat stated that the evening was “a great way for people to prepare for Holy Week so we can celebrate Easter having grown closer to Christ during Lent”.
Whitefriar Street Church plans to host more events aimed at young adults in the near future.
