Holocaust survivor speaks in Dublin parish

Tomi Reichental, a Holocaust survivor of Bergen-Belsen concentration camp, accepted an invitation to speak in St Philomena’s Church in Palmerstown on Saturday, March 22, drawing people in large numbers to hear his strong message of hope.

In his book I Was a Boy in Belsen Tomi gives an account of his life story, from capture, torture, and starvation to being reunited as a family with the discovery that Tomi’s father had survived, even though 35 members of their family died in the various concentration camps.

According to Cathy Burke, from the Parish Pastoral Council in Palmerstown, “encountering Tomi is enormously inspiring and humbling as he gives witness to hope in the midst of the most awful despair”.
