Young people credited for success of awards
This year’s Galway Rose, Nicola Corcoran presented the Pope John Paul II Awards for the Archdiocese of Tuam to nearly 300 students in two ceremonies in Westport and Tuam.
The awards are aimed at young people aged between 16 and 18 and living or going to school in participating dioceses. Speaking at the ceremonies, Ms Corcoran described her own involvement in youth and faith based projects in Ireland and the third world.
Siobhán Bradley, the newly-appointed diocesan youth director, organised the awards and was MC on both evenings. She also made a special presentation to former diocesan youth director,Trish O’Brien for all the work she did in the past two years in the archdiocese.
Archbishop Michael Neary spoke of the importance of the awards in the life of the diocese and thanked all those involved in making it a success.
