Fr Harry Bohan launches book

Swimming Upstream: Finding Positives in a Negative Ireland will be launched November 24.

On Friday, November 22 Davy Fitzgerald, the manager of the Clare All Ireland Hurling Champions will launch a new book by Fr Harry Bohan in the GAA Hall in Sixmilebridge.

The book Swimming Upstream: Finding Positives in a Negative Ireland was written over a two-year period, mostly either in a hospital ward or in recovery at home. It analyses the major changes which took place in Irish society and in the Church from the 1960s to the present time, and outlines the range of practical initiatives Fr Bohan has been involved in.

In the foreword Bishop Willie Walsh says: “Harry was never content to go with the flow but always prepared to explore different directions and possibilities that were against the current of popular or accepted norms.”

The proceeds from this book are going to Cahercalla Hospice, Ennis.
