Courtney McGrailSt Patrick’s College, Maynooth is welcoming 14 new seminarians who will commence their formation for the priesthood at the National Seminary this year.
At the conclusion of the Introductory Programme at the end of September, two of the new seminarians from northern dioceses will continue their studies at St Malachy’s Seminary in Belfast.
As reported in The Irish Catholic last week, some vocations directors have seen an increased interest in vocations thanks to the ministry of Pope Francis.
At the end of September the total number of resident seminarians in Saint Patrick’s College, Maynooth, will be approximately 70. Three hundred lay people are also students.
