Rev. Dr Heather Morris, former president of the Methodist Church in Ireland, will give the keynote address in a special day of Christian unity on Lough Derg on Ash Wednesday, February 18.
One of Ireland’s oldest living places of pilgrimage is inviting pilgrims and interfaith groups from across the Christian Churches to gather in faith as God’s family at the Sanctuary of St Patrick.
Lough Derg is open from 10am on Ash Wednesday and boats will be available from this time. The short boat journey is approx. 10 minutes. There is time during the morning and afternoon for quiet reflection and to the explore the island.
The keynote address is at 12 noon followed by a prayer service in St Patrick’s Basilica. A light lunch will be served from 1.15pm and boats depart from 2.30pm. Admission is €25/£22 and includes all hospitality and services. The distribution of ashes and Eucharist are not part of the event.
